During our early years, we were thrilled to be given a paragraph in a local newspaper. We still are, but thanks to WMJX and a generous donor, now we have announcements on a major radio station. Mission of Deeds has come a long way in our 28 years.
Our values, though, are still the same. We are grateful to every person who wants to learn about us and as excited as ever to spread the word. We still put our clients first and we still take good care of every dollar entrusted to us. These are bedrock values at Mission of Deeds that we work to uphold every day.
Our purpose is also the same – to give beds, furniture, and household goods, without charge, to those in need. When Tony Triglione founded our charity in 1993, he said he wanted to get people “off the floor.” Most of those coming out of homelessness have nothing and would be sleeping on the floor without help. Mission of Deeds has given away many, many thousands of beds over the years. We get children and adults “off the floor” every day.
If you know of a child who does not have a proper bed, please tell us. The family will need a bonafide referral as described in “Our Services.” In the spirit of the holidays, we will fulfill requests for beds for kids who live beyond our usual service area, as long as our normal procedures are followed.
If you have good furniture to donate, we pick up in ten towns in the Reading area. We allow drop-offs from anywhere, by appointment, as long as the items meet our criteria. You can read more about what we take, and don’t take, in “Household Donations.”
Financial donations are always welcome. We neither seek nor accept, government grants. Mission of Deeds is all about neighbors helping neighbors.
If you want to learn more about us beyond what you find on this website, or just want to chat, please call and ask for me personally. If I cannot take your call, leave your phone number and I will call you back. We love to tell our story and deeply appreciate your interest.
WMJX is Magic 106.7. Mission of Deeds brings magic into the lives of people in need every day. Thank you for becoming part of the magic.
