Mission of Deeds relies on dedicated volunteers to help furnish homes for local families throughout northeastern Massachusetts.
Please complete the form below, and we’ll contact you if we have a volunteer opportunity that matches your interests, skills, and availability.
Most of our current volunteer opportunities are for individuals who can serve on a regular weekly schedule.
✔ Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
✔ Pickup Crew and Workshop volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
✔ No experience is necessary for most volunteer opportunities.
Volunteer Roles
Warehouse Team (High Need)
Help load client vehicles, unload the Mission of Deeds truck, organize furniture, and keep the warehouse running smoothly. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.
Office & Data Entry (Full)
Assist with updating our mailing list, entering donations, and other administrative tasks.
Furniture Pickup Crew (High Need)
Ride along or drive the Mission of Deeds truck (CDL required for drivers) to pick up donated furniture throughout the communities we serve. Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 50+ pounds.
Furniture Quality Specialist (High Need)
Help ensure every piece of donated furniture is ready for its next home. Volunteers inspect furniture for quality, safety, and cleanliness, vacuum and steam clean upholstered furniture (excluding leather), and help make sure each item meets Mission of Deeds’ standards before it is distributed to a client.
Workshop (High Need)
Refinish donated furniture by sanding, staining, and painting pieces to prepare them for clients. Previous workshop or furniture refinishing experience is required. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Organize a Donation Drive (High Need)
Coordinate an off-site donation drive for Mission of Deeds. We’ll provide a list of our most-needed items, and you’ll organize a collection at your workplace, school, neighborhood, or community group.
Phone Desk (Limited Availability)
Answer phones, schedule furniture pickups, take messages, and provide excellent customer service to donors and community members. Previous phone or customer service experience is preferred.
Kitchen & Linens (Limited Availability)
Help pack kitchen starter boxes with dishes, cookware, utensils, and other household essentials. Volunteers also pack reusable linen bags with new bedding and towels and help keep the Kitchen & Linens area organized and well stocked.
