Last March, as in years past, we gathered at a Mission of Deeds Gala. Thanks to your generous support, these very successful events have been crucial in providing funds for us to help those in need.
This year, because of the pandemic, we are not able to hold an in-person event. We will miss gathering with you to enjoy a meal together, and this brings to mind our clients, many of whom are struggling to have a meal at all.
At Mission of Deeds, we are still providing beds, furniture, and housewares every day to people in need, but we have added a new twist to address the issue of food insecurity. Each client household also receives a grocery store gift card in the amount of $100. Our clients’ eyes light up when receiving these cards.
This year, instead of having dinner with us, we invite you to consider donating funds toward gift cards or donating a gift card itself. Market Basket is the most popular card, but we also provide Stop & Shop cards, when that is the client’s preferred store.
We hope to provide furniture to 700 families this year, which means also giving $70,000 in gift cards to ease hunger. You can donate money online, mail a check, or drop off a gift card at our facility. Our address is 6 Chapin Avenue, Reading MA 01867.
