MISSION OF DEEDS RAISES $33,000 AT 11TH ANNUAL CHARITABLE GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Mission of Deeds 11th Annual Charitable Golf Tournament was held on Monday, June 2nd at the Woburn Country Club. Over 60 people played and the foursomes enjoyed a great day of golf, continental breakfast, lunch, prizes, raffle and silent auction items. All proceeds benefited Mission of Deeds.

Again this year’s tournament was sponsored by Salem Five Bank/ Boyle Insurance Agency. This joint effort helped to ensure the success of this event, one of our largest fundraisers of the year. Jan Triglione, chairperson of the tournament, stated this was our best ever, raising $33,000 after expenses. Brian Boyle was instrumental in obtaining many of the local sponsors.

Mission of Deeds Executive Director, Bruce Murison, thanked everyone for their participation and support in making this year’s tournament such a success. “Your efforts will make it possible for us to buy many new beds for the less fortunate. We have helped over 7,000 families since we started 15 years ago and the need continues to grow.”

Murison also had special praise for the Woburn Golf and Ski Authority for their continued generosity for the past 11 years. Their support has made this tournament possible and made it a special day for all who participated.

Mission of Deeds wishes to thank all of the hole sponsors, donors of silent auction and raffle items, and all volunteers who helped make this year’s tournament such a success.

The proceeds from this golf tournament will support the dignity and respect of families Mission of Deeds serves by giving them a new start in life with beds and furniture.

The Mission of Deeds, has announced the addition of Beth Ryan as Director of Development.

"The Mission of Deeds is fortunate to have Beth Ryan to lead our Capital Campaign. We are confident that her experience, energy and enthusiasm will help us reach our goals and continue our mission to help the less fortunate,” says Arthur Triglione, Board Member and Treasurer.

MOVING EXPERIENCE

Anyone visiting our building in Reading knows our volunteers must search our warehouse and parking lot for additional space to accommodate an increasing amount of donated furniture and other household items, and to serve a growing number of families seeking assistance. To meet this critical need we require a minimum of at least 10,000 square feet of space for our warehouse. Your generous support is needed to help us reach this goal.

If you have any ideas or can help us in any way, please contact Bruce Murison, executive director, at 781-944-9797.

"A SPECIAL YEAR"

The Mission of Deeds received a $10,000 donation from the Massachusetts Bankers Association Charitable Foundation. Our organization was one of 16 agencies to receive a donation, according to A. James Lavoie, chairman of the MBA Charitable Foundation and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank.

Carolyn Hollis, Mission of Deeds President, thanked the association for its generosity and noted that the donation will help us to provide people with a chance at a new and better life. “We help people who often have no place to else to go for help,” Hollis said. “The money we received from the association will be used to make a difference in the lives of people who have been abandoned by their families or have lost their belongings due to a tragedy that no one should ever have to experience.”

WINNING HOME

A $10,000 donation was presented to the Mission of Deeds by Winning Home, Inc., in support of our organization’s “hard work and dedication to helping families who need assistance.”

In presenting the donation, Albert "Chip" Curran, Jr., director of Winning Home, said "It is especially fitting that we, as a charitable trust, are responsive to the needs of children while being true to our mission. The Mission of Deeds is working on the front lines each day to make a difference in people's lives. We are pleased to support them in their efforts to help people in need.”

The Mission of Deeds was one of seven organizations selected to receive a donation from Winning Home, which is based in Woburn, Massachusetts.

“We were so grateful to receive Winning Home’s generous donation,” said Art Triglione, Mission of Deeds Treasurer. “The donation came to us at a very important time as we try to help an ever-increasing number of people who are in desperate need of assistance.”
