“We can’t begin to express the gratitude we have for the gift you gave us – the gift of a new life”. |
Transforming generosity into hope and improving the lives of people in need... these are the goals of the Mission of Deeds, a volunteer organization that is dedicated to helping homeless and needy families at a time when they need it most.
Our drop off hours for donations are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., and every second CALENDAR Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Please visit our donation pages for needed and not needed items. Due to the number of recalls with cribs and child car seats, we can no longer accept these items. The Mission of Deeds desperately needs more help in our warehouse. Not just anybody, but people who can lift furniture, as well as load and unload trucks. Warehouse hours are 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, but we don’t expect anyone to work the full week or even a full day. A few hours a week would be a huge help. Volunteers can set their own days and hours within our overall schedule. Please give us a call at 781-944-9797 if you can spare some time to help us out! Right now, we have an urgent need for pots, pans, and twin sheets and comforters! We welcome you to stop by with your much needed donations! Mission of Deeds is happy to announce that The Book Oasis, 311 Main Street, Stoneham, also accepts drop-offs of linens, pots & pans and small appliances. (coffee pots, toasters, microwaves, etc.) MISSION OF DEEDS BUY A BED CAMPAIGN
Mission of Deeds is once again launching its Buy-A-Bed Campaign November 15th through January 15th. The campaign is designed to raise funds to purchase new bed sets which are provided, free of charge, to families and individuals in need. Many of the people serviced by Mission of Deeds are young mothers and children starting a new life after living in a shelter. “Helping people in need is our one and only mission” says Bruce Murison, Executive Director. As people shop in Reading and other local towns, please consider making a donation in the boxes in place at local businesses. Please help us reach our goal of 2,000 beds in 2012, which will be an expenditure of $180,000.
